The forest of Montargis
Situated on a limestone plateau overlooking the valley of the Loing at Montargis Forest covers 4090 hectares, which are divided into 255 plots, divided between the territories of 9 municipalities Loiret. The Stag and the Wolf, favorite prey of royal hunts, have disappeared since the massive 1888.
Listed history: in 1784 on the orders of the Duke Louis Philipped'Orléans, owner of Forest, 89 terminals were located around the forest around the village and 48 Paucourt. Were engraved on each terminal: a fleur de lys (listed forest), and a number (opposite side). Almost all the lilies were chipped by the Revolution. Only 5 of them have escaped this
mutilation (one south of the pond Paucourt).
Finally, in the heart of the forest, the Forest House opened in 2006, helps to better understand and explore the different aspects of the forest of Montargis through three themed areas.
