Meaning "Dead City" Mormant will draw the name of the invasion of the Huns who have burned everything in their path, then the annihilation of the village during the Hundred Years War.

The current name of the village was formalized in 1933, before the town was simply known Mormant, but it also brought in the name of Mormant Gâtinois.

To the east of the town, stands the Castle Gate, which was built in 1580.

"The Concert of Angels," which is in the church of Montargis.

Finally, further south Mormant, one can see Montgobert Castle, built between 1840 and 1848.
